I look in the mirror

I look in the mirror and I see a mask,

A brave face unwilling to show true feelings,

The constant fear of judgement and betrayal,

How long will the mask remain with emotions peaking?

I look in the mirror and I foresee an eruption.

I look in the mirror and I see disgust,

An object of a person who should never be,

A waste of life in a world full of pain,

I look in the mirror and see a life not worth living.

I look in the mirror and I see loneliness,

A woman with a body for men to control,

A weak vessel to be abused by all,

Nothing more and nothing less,

I look in the mirror and I see hatred.

I look in the mirror and I see confusion,

A woman who feels lost but also found,

Is this a memory or imagination?

The pain, the struggle, the unfamiliar emotions,

I look in the mirror and I see hope…..

Maybe, just maybe life is more.

I look in the mirror and I see thought,

A river of reflections running down her face,

Acceptance of the past being embraced,

The inner voice now clear and proud,

I look in the mirror and I see peace.

I look in the mirror and I see strength,

A woman who was born to achieve,

A woman with a kind heart,

I look in the mirror and I finally believe.

I look in the mirror and I see a smile,

The woman looking back at me feels free,

Who is this beautiful woman beaming with happiness,

This woman feels loved and self confident,

I look in the mirror and I finally see me.
